MIUI 11 for Redmi Note 5 Also Adds October Security Patches To recall, the Redmi Note 5 was launched in February 2018 alongside the Redmi Note 5 Pro. Notably, the Note 5 Pro also started picking up the MIUI 11 stable update last week and it’s time for the Redmi Note 5. It’s astonishing on how Xiaomi managed to roll out the MIUI 11 update to these many phones. Almost all the Xiaomi phones released since the start of 2018 have received the MIUI 11 update. Even the almost two-year-old Redmi Note 4 is getting the update too. As always, the MIUI 11 update for the Redmi Note 5 is based on Android 9 Pie itself. While Xiaomi managed to deliver MIUI 11 to the majority of its phones, it did not update the Android iteration to the latest one, which is a sad thing. Only the Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro is currently on Android 10 and even the Redmi K20 is yet to get Android 10 update. As for the update on Redmi Note 5, it’s said to weigh less than 500MB in size and comes with MIUI v11.0.2.0 build number. The rollout is a staged one, according to Xiaomi as the company will begin broader rollout after taking feedback from the users who already got the update. List of Xiaomi Phones Which Received MIUI 11 Update in India At the MIUI 11 launch event in October, Xiaomi said more than 25 devices would get the stable update by the end of December. And the best part is Xiaomi delivered on its promise. The MIUI 11 stable update rollout began with the Xiaomi Redmi K20 in India and it was soon followed by other phones like the Redmi Note 7 Pro, Poco F1, Redmi Y3, Redmi 7, Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 7S. In the second phase of MIUI 11 rollout which began earlier this month, Xiaomi rolled out the update to Redmi K20 Pro, Redmi 6 Pro, Redmi 6, Redmi 6A, Redmi Note 5, Redmi Note 5 Pro, Redmi 5A, Redmi 5, Redmi Note 4, Redmi Y1, Redmi Y1 Lite, Redmi Y2, Redmi 4, Mi Mix 2 and the Mi Max 2. The second batch of the rollout was an important one for Xiaomi as the list had several devices which were released back in 2017 as well. The Redmi Note 4 and Redmi 4 already started picking up the MIUI 11 update in the country. The Redmi Note 5 is part of the second batch, but it’s receiving the update in the third phase which is not a bad thing at all. The Redmi Note 8 Pro which was the last device on the list to get the MIUI 11 update has started picking up the update in India as well. Xiaomi will finish the MIUI 11 rollout for all the devices by the end of December and it will be a major boost for the company in terms of software.
