Vodafone Idea, the third-largest telecom operator in India might see the government stepping in and getting a stake in the company. A person aware of the matter told ET Telecom that the government is considering getting a token stake in Vodafone Idea. But the government will not infuse any capital into the company. It will only look to convert a part of the telco’s dues as equity for itself. This might be good news for Vodafone Idea since it has the kind of debt which will be hard for a company to pay if its cash flow is negative....

Vodafone Idea (Vi) has reportedly reached out to several banks for raising a sum of Rs 7000 crore in loans. Banks such as the State Bank of India, Punjab National Bank, IDFC Bank, and HDFC Bank have been contacted by the telco. The development has been shared by ET Telecom. The report from the publication said that most of the loan amount is meant for clearing the dues of Indus Towers....

Vodafone Idea is following the footsteps of Bharti Airtel in refarming the 3G spectrum for 4G. The telco stated it successfully deployed 3G spectrum for 4G in Bengaluru. As part of this process, Vi refarmed 3200 sites across the entire city for 4G. However, the telco reaffirmed it would continue offering 2G services across Bengaluru. The refarming of 3G for 4G will enhance the telco’s GIGAnet 4G capacity in Bengaluru....

India’s one of the major telecoms service provider, Vodafone Idea or Vi, has been making a lot of changes to its plans that comes with a subscription to Disney+ Hotstar. Last week, the telco decided to terminate its Rs 601 prepaid plan that came with a total of 75GB data for a validity period of 56 days with one-year access to Disney+ Hotstar. Vi also discontinued its Rs 701 plan that came with a validity period of 56 days, offering 3GB of data per day along with unlimited calls and 100 SMS per day....

Vodafone Idea recently stepped on the gears and started revamping its broadband business around the country. The company has been introducing new unlimited data plans across major circles that it operates in. The customers have largely ignored Vi when it comes to broadband services since the telco didn’t offer any competitive broadband plans. Xiaomi recently launched the Redmi Note 10 series in India, but it doesn’t come with 5G support.
