In a recent development, Chinese smartphone maker Vivo has launched its Vivo Y32 in India without any major announcement and the device has been listed on the company’s website. The new device from the company features a waterdrop style display notch along with two different cameras at the rear end of the device. In addition to this, the device becomes the first to use Snapdragon 680 chipset which was recently launched by Qualcomm alongside the Snapdragon 778G Plus, Snapdragon 695, and the Snapdragon 480 Plus 5G chipsets....

Vodafone Idea (Vi), the third-largest telecom operator in India, has been the talk of the town for the last few days post giving away a major stake in the company to the government. Vodafone Idea continues to refarm the 3G spectrum to enhance its 4G services. As per the latest development, Vi has successfully refarmed its 3G spectrum to 4G across 11 cities in Gujarat. The telco already refarmed its 3G spectrum to 4G in other circles like Delhi & NCR, Mumbai and Bengaluru. The refarming of 3G spectrum will substantially enhance Vi’s GIGAnet 4G capacity in these cities. Furthermore, Vi also added 5 MHz of 2100 MHz band spectrum deployed to increase the total 4G bandwidth, which results in faster download and upload speeds apart from the better indoor coverage....

Vodafone Idea is aggressively opting for cost-cutting measures to reduce the financial pressure. The telco is believed to let go nearly 1,500 to 2,000 permanent employees across different levels to ensure financial stability. Also, Vodafone Idea has reduced its telecom circles from 22 to 10 for better operational and managerial efficiency. As reported by ET Telecom, telecom gear vendors such as Huawei, ZTE, Nokia and Ericsson are delaying new orders of 4G equipment from Vodafone Idea due to fear of not receiving payments as the telco is already under heavy financial distress....

Vodafone Idea Self-Assessed Dues Stand at Rs 21,000 Crore As per DoT, Vodafone Idea has to pay a whopping amount of Rs 53,000 crore. However, as per the self-assessment of AGR dues, the telco giant has to approximately pay Rs 21,000 crore out of which Rs 6,854 crore is the principal amount for the period from FY 2006-07 to FY 2018-19. Vodafone Idea (Vi) is looking to reach an average revenue per user (ARPU) figure of Rs 250 in the medium to long-term, said Ravinder Takkar, CEO, Vi. The company’s management has a target ARPU of Rs 200 in the short term while Rs 250 is for the long term. During Q4 FY22, Vi reported its ARPU to be Rs 124, up by 7.8% QoQ with the support of tariff hikes implemented in December 2021....

Vodafone and Idea brands today announced the completion of network integration which both the brands started back in 2018. Vodafone Idea Limited today marked the completion of the world’s largest network integration with the launch of a single brand identity- “Vi” (read as “We”). Vodafone Idea (Vi) has made a written request to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) for deferring license fees (LF) and spectrum usage charges (SUC) for the second, third, and fourth quarters for this fiscal year. The total dues for the telco regarding the same would come around Rs 6,000 crore. Ookla, the company behind the Speedtest platform on Monday said that the mean download speeds on both fixed broadband and mobile increased during the week of June 29. The company said that the mean download speed on fixed broadband in India touched 40.05 Mbps in the week of June 29 to July 5. The data highlights that India registered a 3.78% increase in the mean download speed on fixed broadband during the week of June 29 as compared to the previous week....
