Reliance Jio Stands for 20 Seconds Ringing Time on Outgoing Calls In this matter, a person aware of the developments has said, that Reliance Jio has “increased the ring time for outgoing calls to 25 seconds — from 20 seconds — as an interim step till the sector regulator issues final guidelines on the matter.” Following the new change in the ringing time made by Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel also reached out to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) saying that it would also have to cut down its ringing time down to 20 seconds for the outgoing calls being made from its network....

Reliance Jio has just released unaudited standalone financial results for Q3 FY23. The telco said that its net profit for the quarter was Rs 4,881 crore. It was marginally higher than Rs 4729 crore net profit posted during the preceding quarter. For the nine months of FY23, Jio’s net profit stood at Rs 14,140 crore. It is much higher than Rs 11,174 crore posted for the nine months ending December 31, 2021....

Reliance Jio has started its 5G trials in Mumbai using indigenously developed telecom equipment. The company will be partnering up with other telecom vendors, including Ericsson, Nokia, and Samsung, to conduct trials in other parts of the country. According to an ET Telecom report, Reliance Jio is using spectrum in both mmWave and mid-bands for conducting the trials in Mumbai. A senior executive aware of the matter said that the 5G networks for testing went live quickly as soon as the spectrum was assigned by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT)....

Samsung stood second in the feature phone category with a share of 15% while domestic handset maker Lava grabbed the third spot with a market share of 13%. One UI 3 will reach select Galaxy devices with a new design, enhanced features and deep customisation and it will be based on the latest Android 11. The Satcom Industry Association (SIA-India) has sought satellite spectrum certainty, access to the Universal Service Obligation (USO) fund, level-playing field and consumer-friendly regulations to provide unhindered connectivity across the country. The association made these submissions at a high-level meeting with the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), which was presided by TRAI Chairman PD Waghela, TRAI Secretary N Raghunandan and other senior officials.
