The Telecom industry in India recently witnessed a price hike in the prepaid plans offered by the three private players of the market. Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea (Vi) were the first to initiate the tariff hike, and Reliance Jio followed suit soon enough. The surge in tariff of these plans was around 20% which meant that users who used to purchase affordable packs under Rs 250 couldn’t do so anymore....

Just a couple of days back, we reported that Jio Platforms Limited (JPL) has partnered with the Canadian BSS (Business Support Systems) software and services provider, Optiva to offer 5G solutions to global operators. Now, Jio has also partnered with Subex, a provider of Telecom Analytics Solutions and AI-led Digital Trust products. As per the collaboration, JPL will offer global telcos Cloud Native 5G core paired with Subex’s HyperSense to enable closed-loop network automation, product performance and customer experience analytics....

Reliance Jio, the largest telecom operator in India has introduced a WiFi mesh router for its Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) JioFiber service. The mesh routers enable users to expand the WiFi coverage across their home or office beyond the range provided by the default router offered by the internet service provider. According to a dedicated self-care section on the JioFiber website, Jio highlights that the WiFi coverage provided by the Jio Home Gateway covers an area of 1000 sq feet across a single floor....

Mukesh Ambani’s JioFiber wired broadband service has added three lakh new customers during September 2020, the latest data from Trai suggests. Next to JioFiber is Bharti Airtel’s Xstream Fiber service that added just over 66,000 new users. State-run BSNL lost over 1.8 lakh existing customers during the same period. Just a few days ago, we reported that BSNL managed to add around 87,000 new broadband users in October. So it will be exciting to see how BSNL turned the tables in just a month....

JioPhone Users to Enjoy Free Incoming Voice Calls Joining other telcos during this tough period, Reliance Jio announced new benefits to JioPhone customers. As mentioned above, all the JioPhone customers in the country will get 100 minutes of free calls and 100 SMSes for free, and these benefits will be valid until April 17.
