Trai to Cap Multi TV NCF Charges at 40% of Primary Connection’ NCF In the National Tariff Order 1.0, Trai left it to DTH and Cable TV operators on whether they can provide discounts on NCF for Multi TV connections. NCF or Network Capacity Fee is applicable to every DTH/Cable TV connection and even for Multi TV connections. So taking this order from Trai as granted, Tata Sky started charging full NCF of Rs 153 for every secondary or Multi TV connection....

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is currently working on the 5G spectrum auctions recommendations and is likely going to submit it to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) by March-end or early April, said P D Vaghela, Chairman, TRAI. The regulatory body has been working on the recommendations since October of last year now. According to a PTI report, Vaghela said that generally, it takes TRAI seven to eight months before it submits recommendations for spectrum auctions....

The next round of 4G spectrum auction in India is slated to take place on March 1, 2021. The Supreme Court (SC) of India has asked both Airtel and Vodafone Idea (Vi) to share all the details regarding segmented offers with the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai). Two years back, in 2018, the Telecom Disputes Settlement & Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) had favoured telcos by allowing them not to disclose the details of their segmented offers with Trai. As per an ET Telecom report, hearing the appeal of Trai, the SC has over-ruled the order by the telecom tribunal and asked the telcos to share all the tariff details with the regulator....

Vodafone Idea (Vi) will have to give the Indian govt equity shares before it can give optionally convertible debentures (OCDs) to the American Tower Corporation. The telco’s board decided to give ATC 16000 OCDs to raise Rs 1600 crore. The company has now announced an Extraordinary General Meeting (AGM) of shareholders on November 21 to approve the plan. The investors of the telco shouldn’t have any issue with this. The conditions that are mentioned in the EGM notice of Vi suggest that the telco will have to convert Rs 16,133 crore of interest on adjusted gross revenue (AGR) dues into equity for the government....
